I Want to Enjoy My Freedom": Akanksha Chamola Opens Up About Divorce from Gaurav Khanna

In the latest episode of Lock Upp Season 2, actress Akanksha Chamola had a candid conversation about her personal life and her separation from husband Gaurav Khanna. While discussing her current headspace, she emphasized her desire for independence after years of marriage.

The Conversation on 'Lock Upp Season 2': 

During the episode, Akanksha was seen complimenting contestant Harshad on his physique. When Harshad jokingly remarked, "Gaurav will hit me," Akanksha asked if he was afraid of Gaurav. When Harshad replied with a hesitant "Haan thoda" (Yes, a little), it sparked a deeper conversation about her current status.

Seeking Freedom and Personal Space: 

When asked by fellow contestant Shreya if she plans to fall in love again, Akanksha stated, "I don't know, not at the moment". Reflecting on her past, she shared, "I got married when I was really young. I was just 24. So, I haven't really enjoyed my freedom much. And after ten years of being in a good relationship, I'll have my free time to explore. So I don't want to get into something else".

The Revelation of Separation: 

For those unaware, Akanksha made a shocking revelation during the show's launch episode. She revealed, "Okay, so Gaurav and I are getting a divorce. Yeah, we've been separated, living separately for the last year." She clarified that the decision was mutual and that there is no animosity between them, noting, "We still talk to each other. We both don't think that we are compatible as partners because we both see very different futures".

Why Was It Kept Secret? 

Akanksha explained why the separation was not made public earlier: "Our parents thought we were just living separately for a while because sometimes couples need space to sort things out". She added that because they continued to talk and support each other, people believed things would work out, even though the feeling of being a married couple was long gone. The couple, who married in a grand ceremony in Kanpur in 2016, are now navigating their separate paths.
